Band Outfit: What we wear

Outfit

We wear any of the following 4 outfits, depending on the event. The gig list in the members’ area will state which one to wear for each event and this will also be confirmed in the ‘mailchimp’ email confirmation we’ll send out in the days before each gig.

SD Bonfire Gear
This is what we wear for pretty much all our bonfire gigs EXCEPT FOR LEWES ON 5TH NOVEMBER (see next entry below for details of what to wear on the 5th). Many of us have personalised and added accessories and details like skeleton badges, chains, steam-punk goggles etc. If you’re unsure about anything just ask one of us!

When a gig requires “SD Bonfire gear”, this is what to wear;
* Hat (black top-hat or bowler hat).
* Tailcoat (black).
* SD t-shirts (black with the white SkullDrummery logo on the front. Can be long or short sleeved).
* Black/white neckerchiefs (most of us wear black with white detailing/design but some wear a white one with black detailing).
* WHITE trousers/strides
* Black boots/shoes (something comfy and sturdy)

Lewes 5th November
When we play on the 5th we are the official drumming band of Cliffe Bonfire Society, so we are Cliffe’s “Mighty Tub Thumpers” and not “SkullDrummery” for the night. Our outfit needs to match the traditional Cliffe BS outfit, and is similar to SD Bonfire Gear but with a few changes highlighted in bold below. Decoration is still ok up to a point, but lose any steampunk goggles for the night!

This is what to wear on the 5th;
* Hat (black top-hat or bowler hat).
* Tailcoat (black).
* BLACK & WHITE STRIPED TOP (NOT our usual SD t-shirt!) This needs to be a top (t-shirt, jumper etc.) with horizontal black and white stripes of equal thickness.
* RED/WHITE NECKERCHIEF (NOT the usual black/white!) To match with the traditional Cliffe BS outfit this needs to be red with white detailing.
* WHITE trousers/strides
* Black boots/shoes (something comfy and sturdy)

SD Non-Bonfire Gear
When it’s not an official bonfire gig we wear “SD Non-Bonfire gear”. This is basically the same as Bonfire gear but with black strides/trousers/jeans etc. instead of white.

When a gig calls for “SD Non-Bonfire Gear” this is what to wear:
* Hat (black top-hat or bowler hat).
* Tailcoat (black).
* SD t-shirts (black with the white SkullDrummery logo on the front. Can be long or short sleeved).
* Black/white neckerchiefs (most of us wear black with white detailing/design but some wear a white one with black detailing).
* BLACK trousers/strides
* Black boots/shoes (something comfy and sturdy)

Casual/Hoodie
For other, more informal gigs the outfit is the more relaxed “Hoodie”;
* Hat (sometimes we wear them, sometimes we don’t! In the summer we sometimes wear sun hats if it’s really hot! Each gig will clarify)
* SD hoodie (black hoodie with the white SkullDrummery logo on the back)
* SD t-shirts (black with the white SkullDrummery logo on the front. Can be long or short sleeved).
* Black trousers/strides
* Black boots/shoes/assorted comfy footwear etc.

Brighton Marathon
The only other variation is for the Brighton Marathon in April, where we traditionally wear blue jeans and red Teenage Cancer Trust t-shirts.

Drum-skirts

You’ll probably have noticed that everyone’s drums are different colours and individually decorated. Drum-skirts are black fabric covers that we wrap around our drums to give us a more uniform look. Each skirt has the white SkullDrummery logo printed on one side and the “Tub Thumpers” logo on the reverse for when we drum on the 5th (so when fitting your drum-skirt MAKE SURE IT’S THE RIGHT WAY AROUND!).

As a general guide we wear drum-skirts at paid and bonfire gigs BUT, to avoid confusion, when a gig calls for drum-skirts to be worn it will be clearly stated on the gig list.
